Swamp Rose is a hardy native deciduous shrub with a spreading habit that often forms thickets. Its bright green leaves are pinnately compound with 5-9 leaflets and turn a lovely burgundy in fall. The fragrant pink flowers and about 2-3 inches across and usually bloom in late spring to early summer. The flowers are followed by red rose hips in the fall.  Best grown in full sun and rich, moist to wet well-drained acidic soils.  Pest and disease resistant.
