Red Barrenwort
is a shade loving semi-evergreen herbaceous perennial
with toothed green heart-shaped foliage that emerges with red tints and turns completely red in fall. Nodding crimson flowers with short creamy spurs
bloom in spring.Thrives in shade and dry to medium,
well-drained acidic soils. Drought tolerant once established.

MAINTENANCE NEEDS: Low Maintenance. Mosaic virus the main disease, but otherwise little problems. Cut back any surviving winter foliage in late winter before new growth emerges.
